From now through 2026 and beyond, Nigeria is projected to face an alarming rise in humanitarian emergencies from floods displacing families in riverine communities, to cholera and Lassa fever outbreaks overwhelming public health systems, as well as conflicts and fire incidents uprooting thousands.

These growing crises highlight the urgent need for stronger voices and visible champions to rally public support, mobilize resources, and sustain hope for the most vulnerable.

In response to this call, the Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS) has announced the appointment of humanitarian and philanthropist Faith Morey as an Ambassador of the Society. Faith is a Nigerian model, entrepreneur, actress, and humanitarian. She runs her Okachi Charity Foundation which strives to provide educational opportunities and support to vulnerable and disadvantaged children. She has a history of educating underserved communities, supporting low-income families, and sending out-of-school children back to the classrooms. Her influence, combined with her humanitarian track record, will make her a powerful advocate for the Red Cross mission-especially as disasters intensify.

Speaking on her new call of duty, Faith Morey expressed that, “I am profoundly humbled and deeply grateful to be entrusted with the honor of serving as an Ambassador for the Red Cross this is not just a recognition it is a call to greater service and commitment to humanity as well as a pledge to carry forward a legacy of compassion that has transcended borders for more than a century.”

She also emphasized that The Red Cross exists on one simple truth: every human life matters. In moments of conflict, disaster, it chooses compassion over indifference. It does not ask who you are or where you come from; it simply responds with dignity, love, and presence.

In line with her own personal values and mission she points out that, “As a philanthropist and through the Okachi Charity Foundation, I have witnessed firsthand the power of education, of access, and of kindness to change destinies. As a mother, I have come to understand that every child, no matter where they are born, carries within them the promise of tomorrow if only we create the right conditions for them to thrive. And as a woman, I bring resilience and the belief that service to others is the truest form of beauty.”

“This moment is not about me it is about the millions of people whom the Red Cross has served, and the millions more we will continue to reach. It is about the mothers who cradle children in refugee camps, the families rebuilding after natural disasters, the communities learning life-saving skills, and the countless volunteers who embody courage in red and white. My vision, standing as your Ambassador, is to bring both voice and visibility to this mission. I want to remind the world that humanity is not an abstract concept but a daily choice.”

With her appointment, Faith Morey joins the Nigerian Red Cross Society in amplifying humanitarian action and advocacy at a time when it is most needed. Her influence and commitment to service are expected to inspire broader public engagement, galvanize support for vulnerable communities, and strengthen the Society’s mission of alleviating human suffering across Nigeria.
