… Labour party chairman kicks, denies endorsement of APC, align with PDP

Drama as Some members of the labour party led by its house of representatives candidate Rev. Anga Kuje Solomon has rejected the reported step-down of its candidate, Mr. Joseph Ewuga, for the candidate of the PDP in the upcoming governorship election.
The party made this known in a statement released on Wednesday, 16th March, 2023. The statement noted that if the reported step-down is true, then it is strictly a personal decision.
” as we approach the governorship election, we the members of the Labour Party in the State have thoroughly examined the various candidates of all political Parties in the State based on their merit, strength and weaknesses with a view to supporting only one of them to victory.
“For the sake of a greater Nasarawa State and for the good of all. We belief that the task of the Governorship of Nasarawa State is far and beyond an individual, ethnicity , and religion.”
To arrive at a common decision as to which Gubernatorial candidate could be supported, he said they considered the
Competence, Capacity, Character, Experience Temperament
Managerial exposed and the ability to keep the various ethnic groups in the state together as one big family irrespective of religion or cultural background.
“After due painstaking considerations, we in the Labour party have come to an irreversible conclusion without any fear of contradiction, that Governor Abdullahi A. Sule of the All-Progressives Congress, APC and incumbent Governor stands Taller, Bigger, Better and Stronger and as such deserves the support of the Labour Party in Saturday’s gubernatorial elections.’
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Labour Party in Nasarawa State, Alexander Emmanuel Ombugu, has denied endorsing the candidature of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship candidate, Abdullahi Sule, for a second term in office.
Recall that Daily Sun had reported that the labour party gubernatorial candidate, Joseph Ewuga had stepped down from the race to support the PDP candidate David Ombugadu.
In a press statement released on March 14, 2023, Emmanuel stated that the endorsement of the PDP candidate stands authentic as the governorship candidate had endorsed the Ombugadu and the one which was reportedly made by some Labour Party executives, was fake and not recognized by the party at both the state and national levels.
He warned that any of the party’s executives who join the APC to sabotage the chances of their candidates in the coming elections will be sanctioned according to the laws of the party.
Ombugu also criticized the Nasarawa State APC’s alleged attempts to financially induce voters in the 13 Local Government Areas of the state to ensure victory for their candidates during the Governorship and State Assembly elections scheduled for March 18, 2023.
He questioned how the APC intended to win the governorship election when Governor Sule had only built two motor parks in Lafia and Karu Local Government Areas since his election in 2019.
The Labour Party Chairman urged all party supporters to come out en masse to vote for their candidates during the upcoming elections, assuring them that their efforts would not be in vain as the party would provide good leadership if they emerged victorious.
