Industry experts present at the second edition of IT Horizons Business Round Table emphasized the importance of integration of AI and cybersecurity, highlighting the significance of proactive threat prevention, rapid incident response and enhancing resilience against cyberattacks.

The event, which was in partnership with leading cybersecurity firm, Sophos, had its theme as ‘Fortifying Defenses: The Synergy of AI and Cybersecurity’ and took place recently at Four Points by Sheraton Hotel, Victoria Island.

Dedicated to highlighting the latest in technological trends and innovations, the IT Horizons Business Roundtable convened Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) and IT experts from diverse sectors to explore the convergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Cybersecurity, along with the challenges it presents.

Mr. Barry Awure, Technical Sales Manager at IT Horizons emphasized the advantages of using AI-powered real-time analysis and automation in the field of cybersecurity, highlighting that AI can swiftly identify and resolve cybersecurity incidents and reduce potential damage. “Some best practices for implementing AI in Cybersecurity includes ensuring stringent data protection measures and privacy regulations are in place to safeguard sensitive information processed by AI systems. It is also essential to consistently review and update AI models to adapt to evolving cyber threats and mitigate potential risks,” Barry said.

During his presentation, Christopher Odutola, Solutions Engineer at Sophos, highlighted a major challenge in cybersecurity, which is the attempt of cybercriminals to exploit mass software vulnerabilities and evade detection. “In a world where digital threats are becoming increasingly sophisticated, embracing vendors that use AI to improve security should be a strategic imperative for businesses and organizations. At Sophos, we deliver a broad portfolio of AI-powered products and services that secure users, networks and endpoints against ransomware, malware, exploits, phishing and other cyberattacks,” added Christopher.

IT Horizons continues to be committed to its monthly Business Roundtable, which serves as a valuable platform for industry professionals to share ideas and insights in the ever-changing field of technology and cybersecurity.
