Expanding my knowledge of life and colours make my work outstanding – Saviour Akpan

Lagos based professional photographer, Saviour Akpan, says he is unusually blessed with a passion for storytelling through the lens, as he has over the years become popular for capturing crisp and timeless images that leaves a lasting impression on people.

Spotted at an international photo exhibition at ikoyi axis of Lagos recently, where he was on duty, as well as showing off some of his works, Saviour said his love for colours and photography started when he was a child.

“As a child, i used to spend hours flipping through my parents’ photo albums. Those were early moments that i can recall, when i became fascinated with the power of visual storytelling.”

The Akwa Ibom state born still-life photographer, believes that, his savy unique approach to photography sets him apart from others while he is in his field, doing his thing.

“As a creative person and a businessman, i take out time to be meticulous and understand the portrait or the landscape, the entire terrain of my work, as the most important thing to me, as i strive for the satisfaction of those who will eventually see my work.”

And that truly gives the picture of Saviour Akpan while at work, officious in appearance, in his professional jacket, with photography kits in various pockets and cameras with powerful looking lenses flung fashionably across his shoulders, he immerses himself in the culture of the people he photographs, seeking to tell their stories in a way that is true to their experiences.

With a dedication to keeping up with the latest trends and techniques in photography, Saviour said he is constantly expanding his knowledge and honing his craft. That he takes pride in going above and beyond at his work, ensuring that each of his works are a success.

He also added that his favourite types of projects are mostly weddings and portraits, where he can capture the beauty and emotion of his subjects.

Seeing Saviour at work at the exhibition, it was no more surprising that the youthful looking man is making a huge impact, using photography to tell stories around people.
