…2 aides killed

The governorship candidate of the National Rescue Movement (NRM) in Rivers State in the 2023 elections, Sobomabo Jackrich, has been whisked away allegedly by unknown gunmen dressed in military uniform.
The incident happened at his Usokun residence in Degema Local Government Area of the state.
Confirming the report, George Zua, an aide to Jackrich, said the operation which was carried out in a commando styled fashion left two aides of the NRM candidate killed and their bodies taken away by the unknown assailants.
Zua said the operation, which began at about 2am Monday, lasted for over eight hours.
The names of those killed in the attack were given as Diamond Tamunoiminabo and Sincere Jackrich.
Another aide to the former NRM governorship candidate disclosed that the whereabouts of Jackrich has not been known.
The source added that the unknown gunmen have not contacted the family of the former governorship candidate or given reason for his abduction.
Meanwhile, the state Police Command has confirmed the incident and killing of two persons.
State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Grace Iringe-Koko, a Superintendent of Police (SP), disclosed that the operation was carried out by a security agency (name not mentioned).
