Ex-Minister Mukhtar Shagari heads Sokoto C’ttee on Land Allocation

Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has appointed a former Minister for Water Resources, erstwhile deputy Governor of the state, Barrister Mukhtar Shagari as Chairman, Committee on Land Allocations and other related matters committee.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Press Secretary to State governor, Malam Abubakar Bawa on Monday.

According to the statement, the committee is mandated to among other things; Investigate the indiscriminate and flagrant allocation of lands and houses by the immediate past administration in recent periods.

“Find out the number of Lands and houses allocated and their locations and To find out the authenticity or otherwise of the allocation letters of the lands and houses in question.”

Others are mandated to find out Government Houses sold by the PDP led government if any, the modalities used in selling the houses as well as the mode of payment.

“Identify the position of institutional allocations and to liaise with the relevant ministry or Department to get any useful information regarding the Land and housing allocations and other related matters.”

The 25-member committee has Bashir Muhammad (ACY) as the Secretary.
