A former Commissioner for Finance and Economic Planning, Dr Philips Nto has condoled with the families of the recent accident victims at Ogbor Hill Aba.

This is as he pledged to donate his one month salary to assist in the treatment of the survivors.

The multiple accidents that occurred when a container fell from a trailer on some vehicles and tricycles claimed an unspecified number of lives.

Dr Philips Nto, is currently a lecturer at Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Umuahia.

The immediate past Provost of Abia State College of Education, Technical, Arochukwu, commended the prompt response of the state government to the tragedy.

He, however, called on well to do citizens of the state to assist the government and families of the victims in their treatment.

According to him, the government could set up a special account where such monies could be paid in as a means of ameliorating the suffering of victims.

He was, however, sad that the perennial accidents that occur along that axis were not checked and enjoined those in charge of traffic to do something to curtail the menace.

He also called on motorists and other road users to always exercise patience and obey traffic rules.
