Establishment of Centres of Academic Excellence in universities will help Nigeria produce world class scholars, says VP Shetim

Vice President, Kashim Shattima, Monday in Kano insisted that the establishment of Centres of Academic Excellence in Nigerian Universities will help produce some of the world’s best intellectuals, innovators and scientists.

He stated this at the commissioning of a 15 Billion Naira Bayero University Kano *BUK) Center of Excellence Complex constructed by the Central Bank of Nigeria.

The Vice President, who was represented by the Special Adviser to the President on Economic Matters, in the office of the Vice President, Tope Fashua acknowledged BUK as a centre of academic excellence in Nigeria.

He lauded the institution and stressed that the progress of the institution “is a reminiscent of the legacy of the great city of Kano itself .

The Vice President appreciated the support of the Apex bank in the education sector.

Speaking, the Vice Chancellor of Bayero University Kano BUK Professor Sagir Abbas said, the two projects would play a vital role in enhancing Academic Excellence in the University.

Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas applauded the efforts of the Nigerian government and the CBN for constructing and handing over the two projects.
