All is set for the January 2, 2026 reunion party of the 1980 Class of old boys of Enyiogugu Secondary School Owerri (ESSO), Imo State.
Chairman of the Organising Committee for the event, Chief Peter Nwachukwu, said his committee is working round the clock to make the historic reunion a day to remember.
“We are talking about a reunion for the first time since we parted ways after we completed our secondary education more than 45 years ago. Some of us will be seeing one another for the first time since then. That would be awesome. So the organising committee is working round the clock to make it a memorable day”, Chief Nwachukwu enthused.
Meanwhile, many old boys of the ESSO ’80 Class are relishing the prospects of reuniting with their classmates more than four decades after parting ways.
“I can’t wait to see some of my classmates with whom I spent my formative years in secondary school at Enyiogugu. Those five years shaped my character and perception of life, and truly defined who and what I am today”, Barr Ikechukwu Njoku said, ahead of the January 2, 2026 reunion party.
Another old boy, Martin Olelewe, regretted that many of the ESSO ’80 classmates have passed away and urged those alive to make the most of the reunion party.
“Regrettably, we have lost many of our classmates to the cold hands of death. Those of us who are still alive need to reunite and see how we can be of assistance to one another. Some of us are doing pretty well, while others are still struggling to make ends meet. That is why this reunion is very important, so that the strong can help the weak”, another old boy, Martin Olelewe said.
The event is expected to attract old boys of different walks of life from the United States, United Kingdom, Abuja, Lagos, Port Harcourt, Enugu, Aba, Owerri, Onitsha and other cities across the country. Among the ESSO Class of ’80 old boys are notable professionals, including academic professors, medical doctors, lawyers, engineers, accountants, journalists, priests, and businessmen, among others.
