The chairman of the Enugu State Internal Revenue Service (ESiRS), Emmanuel Ekene Nnamani has lost his father, Chief Livinus Ogbu Nnamani, who died on February 5.
A statement by the ESIRS boss on behalf of the family, said Chief Nnamani died on February 5, 2024, in Enugu after brief illness. The statement also said the burial arrangement has been fixed for March 22, 2024, at his compound in Nduvu, Eziama Amechi Idodo, Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State. “The wake is slated for 7pm while lying-in-state and interment will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024,” the statement added.
Late Chief Nnamani popularly known as Ogwuazu was born in 1948 into the family of Ojiabo Nnamani of the enlarged Umunnamani Nwevu family. Nnamani, who was the last male child of Ojiabo Nnamani was named after his maternal grandfather, Ogbunwochu of Umuogbuokom in Obunegu village.
The ESiRS boss described his late father as a grassroots politician. According to him, at the inception of this democratic rule, his late father was the Chairman of Amechi Idodo/Oruku ward under the All Peoples Party (APP). He won all elections under his leadership. His doggedness in the political campaign ensured that the APP won the chairmanship of Nkanu East Local Government Area with the late Hon. Lazarus Nnaji as the chairman and Fred Ajaegbu as the succeeding councilor of Amechi Idodo/Oruku ward in 1999.
He was a stakeholder in Nkanu East Local Government for many years due to this role.
