Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have been charged to recover the N11.45 billion allocated for the construction of 22 Smart Schools in Enugu State from the Chief Executive of Sujimoto Luxury Construction Limited, Sijibomi Ogundele.
The charge was given by the Global Gender Safety and Moral Development (GGSMD), in a statement yesterday.
GGSMD Executive Director, Godwin Erheriene, in a statement yesterday, alleged that N5.7 billion out of the N11.45 billion had been misappropriated.
Erheriene insisted that the anti-graft agency must redouble its efforts in recovering all the funds and ensuring justice is served.
He stressed that the case must not be trivialised because it is not just about financial fraud, but the future and destiny of Nigerian children.
He explained that the Enugu Smart Schools project was a bold and visionary innovation designed to give children access to quality education in a modern learning environment, equipped with digital tools and skills needed for the 21st century.
“The initiative was conceived to empower children with technology, discourage them from falling into cybercrime popularly known as “yahoo yahoo” there by redirecting their creativity into nation-building.

“These Smart Schools are not just bricks and mortar; they represent the dreams and future of our children.
“They were conceived to transform lives, inspire innovation, and break the cycle of poverty through education.
“This is not just corporate mischief it is economic sabotage, a betrayal of trust, and a direct attack on the future of our children,” he said.
He warned that the loss goes far beyond financial figures, saying “without these smart schools, thousands of children in Enugu will be left behind in the world of technology.
“Every child denied access to a smart school is a child pushed closer to ignorance, idleness, crime, and hopelessness.
“This sharp practice of Sujimoto is not just delaying a project he is also delaying destinies, destroying talents, and condemning innocent children to a life of struggle.
“If justice is not serve 100% and swiftly, the message to the Nigerian child will be that corruption is rewarded and their future does not matter,” the group declared.”
