The Enugu State Police Command has successfully repelled an armed robbery attack, neutralised one suspect, arrested a car theft suspect, and recovered stolen vehicles, firearms, and other incriminating exhibits in multiple operations across the state.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the command’s spokesperson, Daniel Ndukwe, the police detailed the outcomes of the operations, including the recovery of a cut-to-size double-barrelled gun with three live cartridges, two stolen Toyota Corolla cars, and suspected illicit drugs.
The statement reads: “Police operatives of the Enugu State Command recently conducted multiple operations that led to the repelling of an armed robbery attack, the neutralisation of an armed robbery suspect, the arrest of a male car theft suspect, and the recovery of a firearm, ammunition, and stolen vehicles.
“The recovered exhibits include one cut-to-size double-barrelled gun with three live cartridges, two stolen Toyota Corolla cars, and other incriminating exhibits.”
“On 24th February 2025, operatives attached to the 9th Mile Police Division repelled an armed robbery attack along Owa Road, 9th Mile, neutralising one of the armed men while others escaped. A cut-to-size double-barrelled gun with three live cartridges, weeds suspected to be Indian hemp, and other exhibits were recovered from the suspect. A manhunt for the other suspects, who fled with varying degrees of gunshot injuries, is ongoing.”
“In a separate operation, police operatives from the Igbo-Etiti Division, acting on credible intelligence, arrested one Sunday Ejiofor (male, aged 23) on 14th February 2025 and recovered a stolen blue Toyota Corolla car from him. The suspect confessed to stealing the vehicle from where it was parked in a compound at Orba in Udenu LGA on the same date. He has since been arraigned in court and remanded at the Correctional Custodial Centre following the conclusion of the investigation by the Udenu Police Division, which has jurisdiction over the case.”
Similarly, another stolen Toyota Corolla was recovered by operatives from the New Haven Division in the early hours of 1st February 2025.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to combating crime and urged residents to continue supporting security efforts.
