Enugu State governor, Peter Mbah, has pledged to collaborate with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for the youth development and empowerment in the state.
Mbah who was speaking during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2023 Batch ‘C’ stream II orientation exercise on Tuesday at the Awgu NYSC orientation camp, said that one of the key agenda of his administration is to empower the teeming youths in the state
A total number of 1919 corps members comprising 993 males and 926 females took the oath of allegiance.
The governor who was represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Lloyd Ekweremadu, said that for his government to achieve its objective, there was need to form a strong alliance with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
He said: “On assumption of office, I made it abundantly clear that the youths will be one of the biggest beneficiaries of the tomorrow that we envisage.
“Though the address is basically for Enugu state indigenes. we also owe the youths of this nation, who have been entrusted into our care a duty to the skills required to grasp the emerging future and create opportunities for the genius in them to flourish.
“One of the key element of the agenda of this administration is empowerment of our teeming youths. The state government will collaborate with NYSC to achieve this objective.”
The state NYSC Coordinator, Gladys Adama, while appealing for more government infrastructural intervention at the camp, thanked the governor for the work done so far at the camp.
