The gale of endorsements for Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah’s second term continued on Saturday as the Igbo-Eze North Local Government ratified a motion by the Enugu North Senatorial District for his re-election in 2027.

Major stakeholders in the council area, led by the local government chairman, Hon. Uche Ogalla, were unanimous in ratifying an earlier vote of gratitude and endorsement passed on Governor Mbah by the leaders of Enugu North Senatorial District to continue in office after 2027.

The endorsement was made during the monthly meeting of the Igbo-Eze North chapter of the PDP.

Former chairman of the local government Chidi Nw’Omeh moved the motion for ratification of the resolution of the leaders of Enugu North and was seconded by former mayor of the council area Hon Godwin Ogbo and Rt Hon Clifford Obe, member representing Igbo-Eze North State Constituency II and House Committee Chairman on Works and Infrastructure, Enugu State House of Assembly.

Addressing members of the party, the Council Chairman, Hon Ogalla, expressed excitement over the ratification of the motion to have Governor Mbah beyond 2027 and thanked the LGA PDP Chairman, Dr Solomon Ogili, for mobilising massively, hence the large turnout for the monthly meeting.

He thanked all party members, major stakeholders and leaders for the tremendous support he has been enjoying since his assumption of office.

Ogalla informed party members that what gives him energy for work, is the inspiration he taps from the innovative governance of Governor Mbah, who, according to him, has turned everything around for the good of the people

He added: “I want to also thank you for following the tide, for ratifying the resolution of the Enugu North Senatorial District, to have the exceptional Governor, Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, in office beyond 2027.

“Who is the only stranger in Jerusalem who has not seen how His Excellency, Gov Peter Ndubuisi Mbah is turning everything around for good?

“If we begin to itemise what he has put on the ground to turn things around for good, we will not leave here. The reward for good work, they say, is more work; that is why we, as a zone, conveyed our formal gratitude and endorsement to him.”

The LG chairman said his administration was working simultaneously on all aspects of our campaign promises, including but not limited to health, security, infrastructure, youth empowerment and economic growth, despite what he referred to as some malicious distractions.

He said, “The people of Igbo-Eze North have not had it so good before now. What our mayor is doing is unprecedented; he is doing what no LGA chairman has been able to do since 1999, our return to democracy.

“Mr Chairman, the sea of heads you are seeing here is because you are doing exceedingly well. Our people are now happy to come to party meetings, and new members are now joining us. The party is happy to have produced you. Like we said before, your enemy will be our enemy and your friend will be our friend. We are not leaving anything to chance. Our loyalty is a 100 percent, the party is proud of you, and I assure you, we shall support you again.”

Taking turns to address the party faithful, all the stakeholders who spoke were unanimous in extolling the leadership impact of the governor of the state and the chairman of the LGA, Hon Michael Uche Ogalla.

A former Council Chairman, Barr Godwin Ogbo, took the better part of 10 minutes to offer pertinent advice to the people of Igbo-Eze North over what he termed the negative use of smartphones and warned against the incessant use of social media to smear the government, as well as people’s images, warning that such acts could land one in jail.

He enjoined the good people of Igbo-Eze North to give the maximum support they are known for to the governor of Enugu State and the Chairman of Igbo-Eze North LGA.

Earlier in his speech, the member representing Igbo-Eze North State Constituency II and chairman of the House Committee on Works and Infrastructure, Hon Obe, expressed joy over the large turnout of party members and noted that the PDP was growing from strength to strength.
