Enugu Air has commenced direct international flight operations between Enugu and Douala, Cameroon, opening a new regional air link from the South-East and strengthening Akanu Ibiam International Airport’s role as a gateway for international travel and commerce.
The airline operated its maiden international flight on Wednesday, September 23, marking a major expansion of its operations beyond Nigeria and creating a direct connection between Enugu and one of Central Africa’s key commercial centres.
Aero Alliance Limited, concessionaire and manager of Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, described the development as a significant milestone for Enugu Air, Enugu State, the South-East and the Nigerian aviation industry.
In a statement signed by its Managing Director, Saleem Amanulla, and Chief Commercial Officer, Zeeshan Akhtar, Aero Alliance said the new route could boost regional connectivity while facilitating commerce, tourism and investment.
The airport operator said it was particularly significant that the international service commenced from Akanu Ibiam International Airport, which it described as an evolving aerotropolis connecting people, businesses and communities in the region with the wider world.
Aero Alliance said it remained committed to creating an airport environment capable of supporting airline growth and improving the travel experience for passengers.

Aero Alliance congratulated the management and staff of Enugu Air on the commencement of the international service, describing the development as a remarkable milestone.
The company also said the new route provided the people of Enugu State with another opportunity to strengthen their connections with destinations beyond Nigeria.

The commencement of the Enugu-Douala service marks a new phase in Enugu’s regional aviation connectivity, with the route providing a direct air link between the South-East and Cameroon.
