Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Obafemi Hamzat, has thanked Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, following his endorsement as the preferred successor for the 2027 gubernatorial election.
Sanwo-Olu announced his endorsement at Lagos House, Marina, yesterday, following extensive consultations with key stakeholders, including members of the Governor’s Advisory Council and Lagos Executive Council members.
The governor described his deputy as a “worthy successor,” commending his integrity, loyalty and unwavering commitment to the administration’s agenda.
Reacting in a statement shared via Facebook, Hamzat said he was deeply honoured by the endorsement, describing it as a significant vote of confidence.

“Today, I am honoured by the endorsement of my Governor, my brother and my friend, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
“His trust means a great deal to me. We’ve worked side by side in the service of Lagos State and I don’t take this vote of confidence lightly,” he said.
He further pledged to build on the achievements of the current administration, assuring residents of his dedication to sustained progress.
“I remain committed to building on the progress we’ve made together and look forward to serving Lagosians with integrity, focus and a clear sense of purpose,” he added.
