Emir Sanusi defies police ban, holds durbar in Kano

Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II, yesterday, held a durbar in Kano, despite a ban by the Commissioner of Police, Ussain  Mohammed Gumel, on account of the security challenges in the state.

The durbar took place shortly after he led  the Eid prayers at the Kofar Mata Jumu’at Mosque where he also gave a sermon.

The  prayer session was observed at the Kofar Mata Jumu’at Mosque due to the downpour that flooded the premises of the Eid ground where the prayer was typically held.

In attendance to pray alongside the monarch were Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and his cabinet members.

In his sermon after leading the prayer, Sanusi urged Muslims to embrace the culture of helping the needy and preaching peace.

He stressed the importance of following Prophet Muhammad’s teachings which preaches helping the needy, especially during Eid-al-Adha celebrations.

He also urged the public to  pray for peaceful co-existenc e in the state and in the country..
