Election tribunal: Bagudu, Na’Allah, petition against Kebbi PDP

The election tribunal in Kebbi State has confirmed that Kebbi State Governor, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu and Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah have forwarded their petitions to the election tribunal sitting in Birnin Kebbi.

The secretary to the tribunal, Abdul-Rahman Muhammed, who confirmed this disclosed that they received six   petitions on the Feb. 25 National Assembly election in the state.

He said “six of the petitions were on the House of Representatives elections, while two were on that of the Senate.”

Muhammed said that Bala Ibn Na’Allah the candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi South senatorial district had filed a petition with No EPT/ KB/SEN/ 01/ 2023 challenging the election outcome of Garba Musa of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He added that the APC candidate for Kebbi Central senatorial district, and  the governor of the state, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, had also filed a petition.

The secretary said that petitions were also filed by the candidates of APC Professor Muktar Umar Bunza with suit No EPT/ KB/HR/04/2023 challenging the elections outcome of  Birnin Kebbi/ Kalgo/Bunza federal constituencies, and Muhammad Bala Usman of PDP, with suit No EPT) KB/ HR/02/ 2023.

He further said they also received a petition challenging the election outcome of Yauri/Shanga/Ngaski federal constituencies, and one from Muhammad Umar Jega with suit No EPT/ KB/ HR/ 03/ 2023 challenging the election outcome of Gwandu/Jega/Aliero federal constituency.

Others, he said, included Bello Kabiru with suit No EPT/KB/HR/ 01/ 2023 challenging the election outcome of Suru/ Bagudo federal constituencies.

According to him, the aggrieved candidates had 21 days from the date of the announcement of the election to file a petition before tribunal. The tribunal would fix a date for commencement of hearing after the completion of exchange of court processes from the both parties.
