Senator Uche Ekwunife has urged Nigerians to embrace unity, love and collective responsibility as the country enters the New Year.

The former senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, in her New Year message to Nigerians, called for renewed hope and national cohesion, stressing that despite the challenges confronting the nation, Nigeria’s strength lies in its ability to rise above divisions and work together for a common purpose.

She stated:

“As we step into a New Year, I call on all Nigerians to embrace one another with renewed love, unity of purpose and unwavering hope for a better and more prosperous nation.”

“Despite the challenges we have faced, our greatest strength lies in our ability to rise above divisions and work together with a shared sense of responsibility.”

“I am optimistic that this New Year will bring improved economic conditions, greater opportunities for our people and much-needed relief for families and businesses across the country.”

Ekwunife, who was deputy governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2025 Anambra governorship election, expressed optimism that the New Year would bring improved economic conditions, expanded opportunities and much-needed relief for families and businesses across the country, noting that resilience, faith and collective effort remain critical to achieving sustainable progress.

The former lawmaker also urged leaders at all levels of government to place the welfare of the people at the centre of governance, describing leadership as a sacred responsibility that must be exercised with compassion, responsiveness and accountability.

According to her, deliberate policies focused on the everyday needs of Nigerians are essential, particularly in the areas of infrastructure development, good roads, quality healthcare, functional education, stable power supply and access to clean water, which she identified as the bedrock of national development.

Senator Ekwunife further emphasised the urgent need to strengthen security across the country, stating that security remains fundamental to economic growth, social stability and public confidence in governance. She noted that Nigerians must feel safe in their homes, businesses and communities, assured of the government’s commitment to protecting lives and property.

“Leadership must place the welfare of the people at the very heart of governance and be driven by compassion, responsiveness and deliberate policies that address the everyday needs of Nigerians.”

“We must prioritise good roads, quality healthcare, functional education, stable power supply and access to clean water, because these are the foundations of national development.”

“Security is fundamental to economic growth, social stability and public confidence in governance, and Nigerians must feel safe in their homes, businesses and communities,” she said.

She prayed for peace, progress and renewed hope for Nigerians in the New Year, calling on citizens to remain resilient, optimistic and united in the collective task of building a stronger, safer and more inclusive nation.
