Ekiti State University appoints Jadesola Taiwo Babatola as Registrar

The Governing Council of Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, has approved the appointment of Dr Jadesola Taiwo Babatola as the 7th substantive Registrar and Secretary to Council of the University for a term of five years.

The appointment was announced at the end of the council’s regular meeting held on Thursday, 17 September 2026.

Dr Babatola was born into the notable family of late Chief Dr J.E. Babatola, the Olora of Ado-Ekiti, a renowned educator and politician in his lifetime.

He attended the prestigious Christ’s School, Ado-Ekiti, for his high school education and obtained a BA (Hons) degree in History from Ondo State University, Ado-Ekiti, now Ekiti State University, in 1990. He bagged an MSc degree in Political Science (Public Administration) from the University of Ibadan in 1997 and a PhD in History and International Studies, also from Ekiti State University, in 2019.

Dr Babatola is a member of several professional bodies including Fellow, Nigerian Institute of Management (FNIM); Fellow, Chartered Institute of Administration (FCIA); Fellow, Institute of Management Consultants; Fellow, Institute of Corporate Administration; Full Member, Chartered Institute of Personnel Management; Member, Association of Nigerian University Professional Administrators; Member, Association of University Administrators (UK); and Associate, Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, among others.

He carved a niche for himself as a historian, public analyst, university administrator and higher education manager. He had a brief stay in the private sector before joining the services of Ekiti State University as an Administrative Officer I in 2001.

Dr Jadesola Babatola had at one time or the other served as a Commissioner in the Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and provided leadership as the Global Alumni President of the University in 2007. Before now, he had also served as the Registrar and Secretary to Council of the National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), Ondo from 2017-2018; the Registrar and Secretary to Council of the Federal Polytechnic, Ekowe Island, Bayelsa State (2018–2021) and the Registrar and Secretary to Council of Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo (2021–2025). He was, until his appointment as Registrar, a Deputy Registrar at Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti.

Dr Babatola is married to Chief Mrs Modupe Babatola with grown-up children. He is widely travelled and holds a couple of honorary chieftaincy titles in different communities.

His appointment takes effect from Monday, October 5.
