Poultry Association of Nigeria(PAN),Ekiti State chapter, has applauded the governor of the state, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, for donating 350 metric tonnes of maize to the association as palliative.
PAN also commended the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security in the state, Mr Ebenezer Boluwade, for making sure that the bags of maize were delivered to the association.
The PAN’s chairman in the state, Mr Alonge Oluwasetemi, in a statement he signed and provided to Daily Sun in Ado-Ekiti, on Friday, said Governor Oyebanji- led government has been sensitive to the plights of poultry farmers in the state, noting the maize palliative is coming to them for the second time.
Oluwasetemi described the intervention by the governor as timely noting it would impact positively on their businesses especially in the face of the rise in the prices of maize in the market.
He noted that the largesse would be distributed to all members across the 16 Local Government Areas of the state.
“On behalf of the Poultry farmers in Ekiti State, I wish to thank the Governor of the state, His Excellency, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji and the Honourable Commissioner For Agriculture in the state, Mr Ebenezer Boluwade, for injecting 350 metric tonnes of maize to Poultry farmers in the state.
“This is a very timely gesture as we were facing an eminent collapse as the price of maize has been increasing on a daily basis and has become out of reach to the Poultry farmers in the state.
“This intervention will help to preserve our farms and also regulate the prices of our products and make them affordable in the markets.
“We really appreciate the Governor for this gesture and remain confident as farmers that out businesses are secure as this is the second time we are receiving this gift.
” I urge farmers to put the maize to good use on their farms and desist from selling it.”
