Kebbi State Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu and Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Chika Malami, are celebrating with Nigeria’s Muslims on the occasion of this year’s Eid el-Kabir festival.
Governor Bagudu, who felicitated President Muhammadu Buhari and the people of Kebbi, prayed for the peace of the country.
The governor, who stated this after he observed two rakkah prayers at Birnin Kebbi Eid praying ground, was flanked by the Minister of Justice and state commissioners.
“I wish to express gratitude to Allah for showing us this day of Eid el-Kabir Sallah 2022. I wish to extend my warm greetings to President Muhammadu Buhari, all people of Kebbi State and leaders across the country,” he stated.
“We join others in praying that all the prayers across the country are accepted by Allah and we are indeed thankful to Allah for His blessings to us. We pray that Allah brings peace and mercy upon us.”
Governor Bagudu, while thanking Allah for the setting in of the rainy season also, also assured farmers in the state of the readiness of the government to address the attack of quelea birds ravaging rice farms in some parts of the state.
He said he and the minister will join hands in putting pressure on the Federal Ministry of Agriculture to address the situation.
Earlier at the Eid Praying ground, in his Sallah message to the Muslim faithful shortly after the completion of the two rakaat prayer, the Emir of Gwandu, Maj Gen Muhammadu Iliyasu Bashar (retd), represented by the Wazirin Gwandu, Abdullahi Umar, expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for yet another peaceful Eid el-Kabir celebration.
He urged people to remain loyal and respect their leaders while calling on the leaders to give more emphasis on developmental issues.
The emir lamented the high level of indiscipline amongst people and called on parents to monitor and enforce discipline on their wards in order to reduce social vices.
The emir made a passionate appeal to the general public to support the Government in its effort to address the security challenges facing Nigeria.
In his Sallah message, Malami heartily felicitated with Muslims in Kebbi, Nigeria and beyond on the auspicious occasion of this year’s Eid al-Adha celebrations.
The AGF said Eid al-Adha reminds Muslim to wholeheartedly be obedient to the instructions and commandments of the Almighty Allah as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim, peace be upon him.
“As we mark this auspicious occasion we should reflect on the inherent lessons of patience, sacrifice and total submission to the will of Allah demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim when he was commanded by Allah to slaughter his only Son (Ismail), by rededicating ourselves to greater adherence to the Almighty’s Commandments and showing the true spirit of Islam in all our undertakings” Malami advised.
“As we celebrate Eid al-Adha, we must reflect back on all the happenings in our dear country so that we can use the period to pray for Devine intervention to the prevailing Security and economic challenges bedevilling the country which the present Administration of President Muhammad Buhari is committed to addressing”, Malami said in his address.
The minister also appealed to our brothers and sisters in the Holy Land performing this year’s pilgrimage to equally supplicate for our redemption.
“I want to re-assure you that the Buhari administration will continue to do everything possible to secure the country. I pray that God will answer our prayers for lasting peace in Kebbi State and the nation as a whole as well as peaceful political transition early next year,” Malami said.
