From Felix Ikem, Nsukka
The Chief Imam of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) Central Mosque, Dr. AbdulMuminu Isah has urged Nigerians, irrespective of religious affiliations to join hands to salvage the country from the myriads of challenges bedevilling it.
Isah said this in Nsukka on Sunday in a remark during a prayer held on the UNN central mosque ground to mark this year’s Eid-el-kabir celebration.
He said that if every Nigerian did the right things in their workplace, market, community, and family the problems in the country would disappear.
“God has given us the wisdom and strength to do right things as Nigerians and until we obey God’s command like Prophet Ibrahim did the problems in the country would continue to exist.
“Some people think leadership is our only problem but I tell you if we all do the right thing in our workplace, market, mosque, church, and family levels the country will be good again.
“To fix the many problems facing our country, all hands must be on deck irrespective of tribe, religion, language, or political affiliations,” he said.
The Imam who is also a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Chemical Pharmacy and Pharmacy Management UNN explained that the Eid-el-Kabir celebration was meant to commemorate the willingness of Ibrahim to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to Allah’s command.
“Prophet Ibrahim wanted to obey God’s command in a vision to sacrifice his only son Ishmael to Allah before Allah through an angel provided him a ram.
“We should emulate Ibrahim’s proof of obedience and humility that made Allah provide a ram to him for sacrifice instead of his son,” he said
The cleric advised Muslims to show love to their neighbours irrespective of tribe, language, religion, or political affiliations.
“Allah directs us to share the Sallah meat and food with our neighbours and friends irrespective of their tribe, language, religion, or political affiliations.
“We must always show love to everybody around without discrimination since God loves us every day,” Chief Imam said.
In an interview with one of the Muslim faithful, HRH Jibrim Isah, who said he is the representative of Attah of Igala in the Nsukka zone urged Muslims to reflect on and imbibe the essence of sacrifice which he said centered on love, peace, charity, humility, etc
“Let us through this celebration reflect on and imbibe the essence of sacrifice, charity, love, service, peace, unity, humility, and submission to the teachings and command of God as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim.
“Let us also remember to be our brother’s keeper and spare a thought for our neighbours to ensure that no one is left behind as we navigate through the difficult times of life,” he said.
