…Says Enugu remains committed to interfaith harmony

The Chairman of Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area of Enugu State, Ugo-Ferdinand Ukwueze, has called on Muslim faithful to embrace spiritual renewal and strengthen communal harmony as they celebrate this year’s Eid el-Fitr.
In a Salah message issued on Thursday, Ukwueze urged Muslims, particularly those in Igbo-Eze South, to reflect on the deeper meaning of the Ramadan fast and recommit to the values of peace, charity and unity.
He described the completion of Ramadan as “a testament to the enduring values of faith, sacrifice and compassion,” noting that the period offers “a profound opportunity for spiritual renewal and a recommitment to the ideals that bind us together as one people.”
The council boss reaffirmed that Enugu State, under Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, remains dedicated to fostering peaceful coexistence among people of different religious backgrounds.
“Our administration remains firmly committed to sustaining an environment where people of all faiths can live together in harmony, mutual respect and shared purpose,” he said.
“We recognise that the strength of our society lies in its diversity, and we shall continue to promote policies and initiatives that ensure inclusion and tolerance for all.”
Ukwueze also aligned his administration with the state government’s development vision, stressing that efforts are ongoing to promote unity and inclusive governance at the grassroots.
“As we celebrate this auspicious festival, I encourage us all to uphold the noble virtues exemplified during Ramadan and to channel them towards the collective advancement of our communities and the state at large,” he added.
He wished Muslims a peaceful and fulfilling Eid celebration, praying that the season brings “peace and abundant blessings to every home.”
