Eguavoen in charge of Super Falcons only for Comoros clash

Austin Eguavoen

Several top officials have said NFF technical director Austin Eguavoen will only lead the Super Falcons for next month’s 2028 Olympics qualifiers against Comoros as the search for a substantive coach will continue to be intensified.

Eguavoen’s appointment to lead the Super Falcons has been met with an outcry.

However, officials told SCORENigeria that he is only a stop-gap appointee while the search for the head coach of the women’s national team will be stepped up.

“He is only for the Comoros match and hopefully by then we would have decided on a new head coach for the Falcons,” a senior official told SCORENigeria.

The Super Falcons take on Comoros on October 9 and 13th with both legs played in Ikenne.

Eguavoen has handled the Super Eagles on several occasions as well as the Golden Eaglets, Olympic team and the Flying Eagles.

This would be the first time he is handling a women’s team.
