From Scholastica Hir, Makurdi

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Makurdi Zonal Directorate, joined stakeholders in a road walk in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, to commemorate the 2024 African Union Anti-Corruption Day.

This year’s celebration, themed “Effective Whistleblower Protection Mechanism: A Critical Tool in the Fight Against Corruption”, saw participants marching to raise awareness about the importance of whistleblowing.

Representing EFCC Chairman, Mr Ola Olukoyede, the Acting Zonal Director, Anselem Ozioko, led the walk and addressed the public, emphasizing the crucial role of whistleblower protection in combating corruption.

Ozioko urged citizens to utilize the EFCC Eagle Eye app for reporting corruption-related issues, assuring them of protection and confidentiality. He stressed that safeguarding whistleblowers would encourage Nigerians to confidently report corrupt practices to authorities.
