From Sola Ojo, Abuja

Operatives of the Ilorin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested 17 suspected internet fraudsters on Tuesday, May 13, in coordinated sting operations across Ilorin and Ifelodun Local Government Areas of Kwara State.

The arrests occurred in Asa Dam, Al-Hikmah University, and Gaa-Odota areas of Ilorin, as well as Ganmo and Amoyo in Ifelodun LGA.

EFCC Head of Media and Publicity Dele Oyewale confirmed the operation, stating, “The arrests… followed actionable intelligence that linked the suspects to fraudulent internet activities in the state.” Items recovered include three luxury vehicles, high-end mobile phones, and laptop computers.

This follows a similar operation last week, where 47 suspects were apprehended in Ilorin and Ifelodun LGA for alleged cybercrimes. “The suspects will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations,” Oyewale added.
