Niger Delta militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo

From Sola Ojo Abuja

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has announced plans to question former Niger Delta militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, over allegations of Naira abuse.

In a post on its official X handle, the anti-graft agency declared, “Nobody is above the law, Tompolo will have questions to answer!”

The statement was accompanied by an image depicting alleged abuse of the naira.

The development followed a viral video showing Tompolo dancing while N1,000 notes were being sprayed during his 54th birthday celebration in April.

The footage triggered public outrage and renewed concerns about selective enforcement by the EFCC.

Social media users criticized the commission’s perceived inconsistency, pointing out that other high-profile individuals have been prosecuted in the past.

Although, the anti-graft agency had hinted that it was working on a project to stop the menace of currency abuse.
