A former Assistant Director, Federal Ministry of Education and Coordinator of ‘The Wife’, Pastor Grace Oge Nwannukwu has made a passionate appeal to school owners to improve on standard of quality service delivery.

Nwannukwu, a former teacher with Kings’ and Queens’ College, Lagos, spoke at one-day parents and youths training event held recently with the theme: “Raising the Next Generation”.

The event attracted pupils from Kumbus Kids School, Ijesha, A-Z ALL Phase Academy, Ijesha, Miradix Nursery and Primary School, Surulere, Bachel Schools, Ayobo, Great Obadaso School, Ayobo among others.

She challenged the school owners to do the proper thing concerning service delivery and standard.

Nwannukwu, a trained American and British teacher lamented that education delivery is not achieving the expected result, which calls for concern among educationist.

According to her, the standard of education would improve if school owners do what is expected of them by providing the children with quality teaching rather than open schools for profit making.

The former teacher tasked school owners to also accord priority to teacher training to enhance their quality service delivery, which would lead to an improvement in standard of education.

She advised them to engage professional teachers with the required qualifications and revealed that many teachers are not qualified to teach.

Nwannukwu advised schools to groom their pupils for the next generation and gave reason why in her school parents pay low fees because of the environment and the situation in the country.

“Some pupils do not have uniforms. Some in my school without uniforms, I gave them to pay later because of no money to buy. There is a need to remove these pupils from the streets and they are among millions of boys and girls we talk about the out-of-school-children due to poverty and other factors.”

Chief Coordinator of ‘The Wife’, Rev. Ada Emeka Matthew tasked parents to monitor their wards use of technology gadgets because of distractions to their studies.

She also disclosed that cultism is now rampant in primary and secondary schools and that nothing is being done to tackle the menace.

Two speakers, Dr. Grace Dimanozie and Pastor Augustine Nwannukwu urged parents to raise godly children and admonished children to bring honour their parents.

Pupils from Fumbus Kids School, Ijesha entertained the guests with choreography while the best dancers were given different gifts.
