A prominent media executive, Mr. Ola Olanrewaju, has spoken out against the negative narrative that Nigerian youth should not pursue Western education, stating that education is not a scam.
Olanrewaju, the Chief Executive Officer, Ibadan Media Limited, noted that education provides knowledge and that the knowledge is power.
He stated that it is a malicious attempt to mislead the youth of Nigeria to believe otherwise. He made the statement while congratulating Hammed Solomon Olamijuwon, the CEO of H.S.O Global Limited, on the completion of his M.Sc. in Public Administration from Lead City University, Ibadan.
Both Olmijuwon and Olanrewaju are leading figures in the Lewaj Group, a collaborative network of entities that foster a culture of support, growth, and mutual success among its members.
Olanrewaju said he sees Olamijuwon’s success as an example that showcases the benefits of Western education and encourages others to follow suit. Olanrewaju is the organiser of the Oyo State Most Influential Award Series, which is gearing up for the 7th edition, He promised that he would inspire and encourage the youth to pursue their academic dreams without fear of being misled.
According to him, affirmative action is needed to counteract the negative narrative surrounding Western education among some people in Nigeria.
“This is necessary to help the youth differentiate fact from fiction and make an informed decision when pursuing their education. I inspired to change the mindset of Nigerian youth towards education. I will ensure that they have the right knowledge and tools to succeed in the competitive global market,” he said.
