Edo PDP primary election nullified by Federal High Court

By Kachi Ekile

The Edo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primary election has been nullified by Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Channels reports that the poll which produced Asue Ighodalo as the PDP gubernatorial candidate was voided on the ground that 378 delegates who were supposed to vote at the primary election were unlawfully excluded by PDP.

The verdict was given by Justice Ekwo in his judgment on the suit brought by the aggrieved delegates following the February 22, 2024, poll.

According to the judge, both the provisions of the Electoral Act 2022 and the PDP Guidelines were violated in the conduct of the primary election which took place in Benin.
