The Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council, Festus Alenkhe, has cleared the hotel bills and the transportation fair of Mr Clement Asemota, the 41-year-old man, who came from Gabon to Edo State, Nigeria to search for his father, back to Gabon.
Clement Asemota left Gabon six months ago for Edo State Nigeria to search for his father.
He was however purportedly arrested and detained in Lagos by the Nigerian Police for six months before they let him go off their hook.
Clement said while in the police detention, all his belongings were taken from him including the photograph of his father that would have aided him to easily trace his father.
Narrating his bitter experience to the chairman of the NUJ, Edo State Council, Clement said he has neither place to sleep nor money to go back to Gabon hence all his personal effects have been stolen, just as he said, worst still, he could not trace his father’s family.
He told the chairman that he was featured in some of the radio stations in the state and those who called in asked for a photograph to show for the so-called Asemota adding that because the picture has been stolen, he could not give any proof and that he needed to go back to Gabon to get another of his father’s photograph but he has no money to go back.
On his part, the chairman, Festus Alenkhe, directed the Secretary of the union, Andy Egbon to make the union’s guest house available for him and his feeding should be taken care of under his care.
The chairman further said enough money to take him back to Gabon was given to him.
