Edo guber: Okpebholo’ll make state great again – Group

The Association for Better Edo (ABE), has said that the candidate of the All-Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming September 21, 2024 governorship election in Edo, Senator Monday Okpebholo, would make the state’s heart to beat again, as it was during the administrations of Ogbemudia, Ambrose Ali and Adams Oshiomhole.

In a statement in Lagos yesterday, the group, led by Dr. Idemudia Eiremiokhae said the state has fallen behind others in every facet of socio-economic index.

According to the statement, Edo under Governor Godwin Obaseki has witnessed infrastructural decay in the last eight years.

“All the facilities that attract tourists to Edo State have remained moribund and in disrepair but all hope is not lost because Senator Okpebholo is capable of resuscitating and even re-creating a new one, if voted in as the governor come September 21.

“Today, when you look back on things that made Edo the heartbeat such as a workable educational system, excellent hospital facilities, adequate micro cooperatives in rural communities, and motorable inland roads, but all that have become history in the past eight years.

“Edo used to boast of Bendel Breweries, Bendel hotels, Bendel line, Bendel Feeds and some vibrant Agro industries such as rubber plantations, palm oil farms, Ogbe hard court championship, which was a tourist event for the state, but none of these exist anymore in the heartbeat of Nigeria.

He urged the people to rally round the APC candidate and vote en masse for him in the forthcoming election to correct the ills of the last eight years, and return the state to becoming the true heartbeat of the nation.

“This election is a choice between making Edo the heartbeat again or leaving it in the hands of the undertakers. It is a choice between a governor who will put Edo people first or a governor who will put Edo people last because a vote for PDP is a vote failure, perpetual stagnation and disaster for Edo people,” he added.
