Ahead of Edo State governorship election, some indigenes under the aegis of Concerned Edo Progressive (ECP), have backed an aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Kasimu Otono.

They advised voters to look beyond unwritten rotational agreement that might be monetized at the end of the day, but that they should focus more on competence.

Spokesperson of the group, Hassan Abiri, in a statement,.yesterday, claimed that Otono, who is young and vibrant would retrieve the people from the doldrum of poverty to prosperity.

Abiri said it was time for voters to showcase competence, capacity and diligence as a hallmark of governance which Otono represent.

“There is a golden rule that has been adopted by all relevant stakeholders to foster peace and unity and fairness amongst all Edo sons and daughters but urge that the party APC should look beyond sentiment, but competence and capacity to deliver the Renewed Hope mantra of Mr President to the great people of Edo state which should be the more reason they should look inward to the unquestionable person of Barr. Kasimu Otono.

“They show throw weight behind his candidacy and appeal to all aspirants from all the three senatorial districts to close rank and support a breath of fresh,” he said.

He further reiterated Otono’s commitment and antecedent as a loyal party man who has never decamped to any other party and who aspired in 2022 but stepped down for the former national chairman of the party Senator Adams Oshiomole, who was contesting the senate while he was racing for the green chamber.

Accordingly, he assured Indigenes of the state that Otono would carry everybody along regardless of political party or tribe of elected.

He added: “Irrespective of our affiliation to different political parties we believe Barr. Kasimu Otono of the APC will put the interest of Edolites first in delivering the dividends of democracy and bringing succour to the common man.”
