The resumption of Plenary for a new quarter at the Edo House of Assembly earlier scheduled for Monday, May, 22 has been postponed indefinitely.
This was contained in a statement by the Clerk of the House, Mr. James Omoataman, and made available to newsmen in Benin City yesterday.
The statement said that the postponement was due to the ongoing renovation of the hollow chamber.
The statement also advised all members of the house and the general public to take note of the development .
According to the statement, a new resumption date would be announced later.
Earlier, the Speaker, Justin Okonoboh, inspected the ongoing renovation of the hollow chamber.
Okonoboh said ” as at today all the public address system are not functioning, but we need to put the generator in order.
On the rumor that the house is divided, the speaker said ”No house is complete anywhere in the world.
”We are 24 members from different constituencies, we can not all speak with one voice. We all have our different opinions and views,” he said.
Okonoboh assured the people that the house would resume plenary as soon as all technical repairs currently ongoing in the complex are completed.
