The Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Edo State, Mr. Kennedy Odion has advocated strong political will to tackle the issues of insecurity in Nigeria.

He made the call while speaking on both local and national issues as they affect the ordinary Nigerian populace.

According to him, “There is no Nigerian who is comfortable with the current security situation. If you live in this country, you are affected.

“The security challenge is largely political, and what is needed is the determination and political will to confront it head-on,”

He argued that government agencies often possess intelligence reports on criminal activities but fail to act decisively due to a lack of commitment.

While declining to disclose specific security strategies, he emphasized that the ADC would prioritize the safety and welfare of Nigerians if given the opportunity to govern.

“The security and welfare of the people are the primary responsibilities of government. We are determined not to play politics with security because the lives of Nigerians are too important,” Odion added.

The chairman also urged citizens not to lose faith in the country despite prevailing challenges.

“We do not have another Nigeria. Nigerians are hopeful people, and we must continue to believe that with good leadership, our nation can become better,” he said.

On efforts to unite the party ahead of future elections, the ADC chairman acknowledged that some members were aggrieved and that certain disputes remained before the courts.

However, he disclosed that reconciliation efforts were already underway.

“We understand that elections are a game of numbers. There is no aggrieved member that we are not willing to reach out to.

“Committees have been set up, and we are engaging everyone to ensure unity within the party,” he explained.

He expressed optimism that estranged members would eventually return, noting that dialogue and negotiation were ongoing.

Although he could not provide a timeline for the reconciliation process, he maintained that the party was committed to resolving internal differences and presenting a united front.

“Anything that involves human beings takes time. We are identifying the issues, engaging those concerned, and exploring ways to resolve them.

“We are confident that the party will emerge stronger,” he concluded.
