On the 7th of December 2023, the Enterprise Development Centre (EDC) of Pan Atlantic University, in collaboration with PharmAccess, celebrated the graduation of 60 participants from the Healthcare Management Programme (HMP). This transformative initiative, a collaborative effort between PharmAccess and EDC, is meticulously crafted to elevate the business management skills of healthcare professionals, delving into crucial areas such as quality management, human resources, financial management, and digital technology.
The ceremony, hosted at the Lagos Business School, was highlighted by impactful addresses from distinguished speakers. Also, the presentation of certificates for various courses, including that of the HMP 10 cohort, was a significant moment, with Mrs. Njide Ndili, Country Director of PharmAccess, and Dr. Eniayewun Ademuyiwa, Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Health Service Commission, jointly presenting the honors.
Mrs. Nneka Okekearu, the Director of the Enterprise Development Centre, opened the ceremony with a gracious and warm welcome extended to all parties. In her welcome remarks, she exhibited a profound appreciation for the diverse backgrounds that each graduate brought to the program, acknowledging the richness that this diversity contributes to the collective learning experience. She emphasized the practical application of the knowledge and skills acquired during the course, urging each graduate to become agents of positive change within their respective businesses. Mrs. Okekearu envisioned a future where the teachings of the program would not merely reside in certificates but would manifest as driving forces behind successful enterprises.
Additionally, the keynote and esteemed guest speaker, Dr. Ibukunoluwa Awoshika, eloquently emphasized the critical role of astute business decision-making in her address. Stressing the transformative potential of strategic planning and unwavering determination, Mrs. Awoshika illuminated the path for businesses to realize their aspirations. She remarked, “In the world of business, success comes from making smart choices, planning carefully, and staying determined. Like weaving a tapestry, these elements shape the journey of a business, turning dreams into reality. Let’s be the architects of our own success, guiding our ventures to new heights through thoughtful decisions and a resolute spirit.”
The Class President for the HMP-10 cohort expressed gratitude to the EDC, Bank of Industry, and PharmAccess for the program’s impact. The president emphasized “a shift from aspiring to be operational leaders to becoming transitional leaders”, embracing the future with foresight and determination. This transformative vision serves as an inspirational call to action, urging graduates to move beyond the operational realm and embrace their roles as architects of change in the dynamic landscape of healthcare management.
A notable development was the sponsorship from the esteemed Bank of Industry, dedicated to strengthening healthcare management through education. This crucial support has significantly contributed to sustaining commendable enrollment levels, particularly given the current tuition of about NGN 900,000 for the HMP course.
The event drew attendance from government representatives, medical professionals, development sector stakeholders, as well as family and friends of the graduates, making it a truly memorable and impactful occasion.
