The World Bank report read: “With growth proving too slow to outpace inflation, poverty has risen sharply. Since 2018, the share of Nigerians living below the national poverty line is estimated to have risen sharply from 40.1 per cent to 56.0 per cent.
On the way forward, Ezekwobi, advocate of agriculture reform, urges the federal government to give incentives to farmers by supporting them with soft loans, fertiliser, and storage facilities to preserve farm produce. He further explained that if the agric sector becomes attractive, millions of unemployed Nigerians would embrace farming. “This development, in turn, would put more foods on Nigerians table, while crime and other undesirable attitudes common among unemployed youths would gradually wind down.”,he said.
