The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Saturday vowed that any vote that was not captured by BVAS in Ebonyi South senatorial zone bye-election will not be counted by the commission.
National Commissioner of the Commission, Kenneth Ukeagu stated this while speaking with journalists in Afikpo, Afikpo local government area of Ebonyi State the collation centre for the Ebonyi South senatorial zone bye-election.
He called on candidates of various political parties participating in the bye-election to maintain peace and order.
“With regards to this bye-election, we have actually cooperated with the provisions, I think the process is ongoing, and very soon, we will declare the winner.
“At the end, I want to appeal to the contestants, and whatever is the overcome, they should embrace peace” he said.
Speaking on the alleged bypass of BVAS by agents during accreditation and voting in some polling unit, especially in Ohaozara and Afikpo North LGAs, he said that the commission will apply the rules involved in BVAS.
“We have our rules and guidelines with regards to the use of BVAS in the election. And in all election, we applied the rules and guidelines, and if there such cases that it wasn’t used, the rules will be applied,” he stressed.
