Ebonyi State Government has suspended the services of 29 contractors handling the ongoing estate project for the resettlement of Izzo and Amaeze autonomous communities in Ishielu Local Government Area of the state over unsatisfactory services.
Briefing newsmen on the outcome of the State Executive Council meeting on April 8, Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Jude Okpor, disclosed the contractors were equally barred from winning further jobs in the state.
He further disclosed the council had set up a peace committee to liaise with the implementation committee and other relevant ministries to actualise the Government White Paper on the restoration of peace between Effium and Ezza Effium in Ohaukwu council of the state.
According to him, Governor Francis Nwifuru did not only emphasise his determination to ensure peace was noticed in all parts of the state but also assured of implementing the approved recommendations in the White Paper within the limit of the state economy.
The commissioner also said the council had approved a memo for the amendment of some sections of Ebonyi State Fiscal Responsibility Commission Law, 2020, to make all the members of the commission full time members.
The council equally endorsed a memo on the resettlement of the families displaced from the site proposed for the establishment of Information Communication Technology (ICT) University at Oferekpe Agbaja in Izzi council and directed for the submission of the detailed proposal for consideration in the subsequent council meeting.
Okpor also said the council had approved the first phase of the construction of 134 kilometres roads across the 67 communities of the state, stressing that the council members were charged to redouble their efforts as many sectors were yet to be covered by the present administration.
