Kano State has witnessed another early morning fire accident that destroyed at least 50 shops at the Fatima Simra Multi-Purpose Market in the Dakata area of the state.
The fire in Dakata market reportedly began at 5:40 a.m. on Friday.
The tragedy occurred just one week after more than 1,000 traders at Singer Market were impacted by a significant fire.

Dauda Haruna Chula, the chairman of the market’s fire committee, clarified that most of the affected stores were small enterprises that produced oil and recycled nylon and plastics.
“From the preliminary, what we have seen, about 50 shops are already down and the fire is still ongoing. We are still expecting the Kano State Fire Service personnel,” he said.
Chula stated that they had verified the occurrence and had attempted to contact the fire department and other relevant organisations.
It is yet unknown how much damage has been done and how many people may have died.
