Eagle Media, founders of Nigerianmetro, has expressed concerns over the plight of most single mothers in Nigeria saying there was need for society to help them.
Its founder, Christyn Obiajulu, who lamented the neglect and trauma the society had subjected women in this category to, said the organisation had planed a “Single Mothers Charity Lunch” to address the situation which also holds dire impact on their children.
“The society as a whole has inadvertently been silent on the plight of single parents, most especially single mothers. The impact of this is the huge prejudice on single mothers,” she said.
The event is scheduled to hold on March 25 and would also showcase in artistic forms true stories of single mothers and their impact on the society at large.
Obiajulu said the goal of the event was to sensitise the public on the challenges faced by single mothers and to get the much needed support for them to overcome it.
