The village of Umuleme in Okpatu, Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State came alive on January 9, 2026, as families, dignitaries, and well-wishers gathered for the traditional wedding ceremony between Adaora Eleonu and Odinaka Okeke.
The event brought together the family of Mr. Dozie and Amaka Eleonu and the family of the late Mr. Emmanuel Ogwunanya and Mrs. Lois Okeke of Umuezeala Nnenato Autonomous Community, Ohioma, in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State. The colorful ceremony marked the formal exchange of vows and the traditional handing over of the bride.
Several traditional rulers from across Enugu State graced the occasion, which was chaired by the Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon. Uchenna Callistus Ugwu. A major highlight of the ceremony was the formal presentation of Adaora Eleonu to the Okeke family by her father, Mr. Dozie Eleonu, in line with Igbo traditional customs.

The bride, Adaora Eleonu, a former long-time captain of Nigeria’s female national basketball team and a key member of the reigning Queens of Women’s AfroBasket, D’Tigress of Nigeria, captivated guests as she danced gracefully in different colorful traditional attires.
Speaking at the ceremony, Adaora described the day as one of the most important moments of her life, expressing gratitude for love and companionship. Her husband, Odinaka Okeke, also expressed joy, describing the occasion as a celebration of love and acceptance, and the beginning of a new chapter in their lives.
