A mild drama played out at about 11am when policemen apparently acting on a tip off from aggrieved electorate apprehended some two men in possession of canes allegedly using them to chase away voters believed to be voting for the opposition.
The development had brought normalcy to the area until a few minutes later when the same two thugs re-appeared some metres away from the spot where they were picked up at the Okeyinmi roundabout in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.
One of the voters who had complained, Mrs. Saliu, said: “It was a scene of show of shame by the policemen, as the said individuals were immediately released afterwards because barely after they were whiskered away, they were seen at Okeyinmi again sharing what brought in raised voices.”
Some of the voters called on the officers to come to their aid after receiving threats from the individuals showing themselves as APC thugs.
In another development, thugs disrupted voting by beating voters in Ward 5 Unit 16 area of Ado Ekiti.
An eye witness, simply identified as Jide Best who informed our correspondent said: “The irony of it was that officers of the civil defence could not arrest the situation as they left the unit.”
