Cavista Technologies, a technology and software solutions company, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Babcock University to equip students with practical artificial intelligence (AI) skills, industry mentorship and hands-on experience aimed at preparing them for emerging opportunities in the global technology sector.

The partnership, formalised on Wednesday, will provide 300- and 400-level students with direct exposure to real-world AI applications through interactive learning, engagement with experienced technology professionals and a jointly developed mini-curriculum designed to bridge the gap between classroom instruction and industry requirements.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Vice President and General Manager of Cavista Technologies, Oye Morakinyo, described the agreement as an important step towards addressing the disconnect between academic training and the practical competencies required by employers in the technology industry.
“Today’s MoU represents more than a signed document—it represents a shared commitment to bridging the gap between theory and practice, potential and opportunity,” Morakinyo said.
“We are creating meaningful pathways for students to learn directly from engineers with deep technical and business expertise. Beyond empowering the next generation of tech leaders, this collaboration strengthens Cavista’s long-term strategy to attract, nurture, and retain top-tier talents.”
Under the agreement, students will participate in structured learning activities intended to expose them to practical applications of artificial intelligence, software development processes and the demands of technology-driven businesses.
The collaboration will also provide opportunities for mentorship and interaction with senior industry professionals, enabling students to gain insights into the skills, professional standards and workplace expectations associated with careers in technology.
Cavista said the initiative aligned with its commitment to developing talent and strengthening the pipeline of skilled professionals capable of contributing to Nigeria’s expanding digital economy.
Also speaking, President and Vice Chancellor of Babcock University, Prof. Afolarin Olutunde Ojewole, commended Cavista’s growth and record of innovation, describing the partnership as a timely intervention that would enhance the quality and relevance of university education.
“For a company established less than a decade ago, Cavista has built an extraordinary legacy of excellence and impact. This timely partnership allows us to connect directly with a global tech leader, enriching student learning, advancing research, and ensuring our graduates are thoroughly prepared for the future of work,” Ojewole said.
The Vice Chancellor maintained that partnerships between universities and technology companies were essential to ensuring that graduates possessed not only theoretical knowledge but also the practical skills required to compete in a rapidly changing employment market.
Both organisations expressed confidence that the agreement would strengthen the connection between academic research and industry needs, create opportunities for students to develop relevant competencies and contribute to the growth of Nigeria’s technology ecosystem.
They said the partnership reflected a shared commitment to talent development, innovation and preparing young Nigerians for careers in an increasingly technology-driven global economy.
