Diaspora Nigerians excited over US awards

Some Nigerians and other Africans in Diaspora have been excited following an honour bestowed on them by African Diaspora Awards during the second edition of the Global African Diaspora Awards (GADA).

The event took place on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the Golden Tree Banquet in Houston, Texas, USA.

According to a statement by the Media Adviser of the Diaspora group in Nigeria, Rev. Emmanuel Olorunmagba, many Nigerians were among the honorees who were recognized for their contributions towards the African Diaspora’s excellence.

“The Global African Diaspora Awards (GADA) brought together an impressive array of influential figures from various industries, including top executives in oil and gas, leaders in technology and healthcare, esteemed legal professionals, prominent business leaders, and renowned entertainment executives.

“The event also attracted community advocates, social influencers, and talented music artists, creating an atmosphere of inspiration and celebration.

“The GADA Awards is Houston’s most glamorous awards gala. Over 400 guests attended the awards ceremony from across the globe. which includes Miss Chinelo Aniekwu, Miss Grande Georgia USA 2025; Miss Josephine Nwaogu, Miss Diaspora Nigeria USA 2025 and Michael Illesanmi of the 90 Day Fiancé.

“The hosts of the event were ace Nigerian comedian MC Elenu and Norway-based Cameroonian MC Charlene, aka the energy goddess. The red carpet was hosted by Gifty David’s. It was a night of glitz and glamour where excellence was celebrated.

“Some of the Nigerians who were honored are Joseph Oche Udeh, popularly known as Bigsmart, who received the MC/Hypeman of the Year award. USA-based Nigerian artist David Cross Idukomose, known professionally as Kwate, was the entertainer of the year honoree. DJ Prince bagged the Best African DJ (Global);

“Others are Engr. Stella Ifeoma Okengwu, the CEO of Winhomes Global Services, was honored with the Dynamic CEO of the Year Award; Jumai Ghaji, the CEO of Suya on the Spot was the Entrepreneur of the Year honoree; Dr Kennedy Nnadi, the CEO of Pennek Heights in Katy, Texas, was honored with the Developer of the Year Award; and Bolaji Ajimotokan, the first African in the State of Texas to establish a federal credit union, was honored with the Global Business Ingenuity Award.

“One of the event’s highlights was the stunning fashion show by BCD Fashion House, in collaboration with Dexterity Talents Inc., which captivated the audience with elegance from the evening wear collection by Hawah Kromah, CEO and designer of BCD Fashion House Inc.

“Each dress was designed with sophistication, featuring luxurious fabrics, intricate detailing, and impeccable tailoring. From red-carpet events to exclusive galas, her evening wear is synonymous with luxury, making her a sought-after designer among discerning fashionistas alike.

“The celebration of these achievements is not just about individual success; it’s about amplifying the collective voice of Africans across the globe. By highlighting the stories and journeys of these professionals, their accomplishments are given a platform, allowing their impact to resonate far beyond their immediate communities.

“This amplification is vital in challenging stereotypes, promoting diversity, and creating a more inclusive global society”, the statement said.

According to the release, the 3rd edition of the Awards in 2026 will be held in Houston, Texas, USA, before the Paris, France, edition slated for 2027.
