Cross Riverians in the Diaspora Organisation (CRID), has unveiled plans to establish a modern specialist hospital and launch virtual medical consultation services in Cross River State to enable residents access specialised healthcare without travelling abroad.
President of CRID, Ambassador Christopher Lekan, announced the initiative in his inaugural address for a second term in office. He said the project was part of the organisation’s renewed commitment to strengthen healthcare delivery in the state under its new administration.
According to him, “This initiative will enable citizens of Cross River State to receive high-quality, specialised healthcare from experienced diaspora medical professionals without the need to travel abroad, improving access, reducing costs and strengthening the state’s healthcare system.”

Ambassador Lekan listed upcoming key projects, including a statewide borehole programme, expansion of the farmers support programme and the CRID Diaspora Estate in Calabar to provide affordable, secure housing for Cross Riverians abroad.
CRID also plans to expand its scholarship programme to primary and secondary school pupils and sustain partnerships with the University of Calabar for mentorship and academic capacity building.
The President commended the Cross River State Government for establishing the Cross River State Diaspora Commission (CRIDCOM), describing it as a landmark decision that created an institutional bridge between the diaspora and the homeland.
He called on all Cross Riverians in the diaspora to renew their commitment to the organisation’s mission of unity, service and sustainable development.
