Former federal and state lawmakers, including Chukwudi Mayor Eze, who represented Orlu/Orsu/Oru East Federal Constituency, and Pascal Okolie, joined the traditional ruler of Isiala Okporo, Eze Francis Nonyelum, and other dignitaries to honour the late founder of the House of Prayer International Covenant Church (HPICC), Most Rev. Jude Oguaju, when the church marked its 60th anniversary on friday.
The celebration, held at the church’s international headquarters in Isiala Okporo Community, Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State, was themed: ‘Our Faith: A Light for Our Future’, and attracted worshippers from across Nigeria and beyond.
The General Overseer and High Priest of HPICC, Rev. John Jude-Peters Oguaju, urged members to renew their commitment to the church’s sacred heritage.
Paying tribute to his late father, who founded the church as House of Prayer Sacred Ministry (HPSM), he said: “For 60 years, this House has stood as a testimony of what can happen when a people remain committed to a divine calling.”
The chairman of the occasion, Apostle Barnabas Dike, commended the late founder for his obedience to God’s instructions and urged worshippers to rededicate themselves to God’s service.
The chairman of the HPICC National Executive Council, Elder Luke Ejezieh, said the church’s progress and global recognition demonstrated God’s work through those who served Him diligently.
The chairman and secretary of the Jubilee Committee, Deacon Ndubueze Ogbonna and Deacon Okeke Nnamdi, respectively, attributed the church’s growth and success to God’s faithfulness.
Eze Nonyelum, in his address, congratulated the church, and noted that the community had benefited immensely from the church. He also commended Rev. Onyeka Nnajiofor of Living Mountain Covenant Church of Yahweh, Uga, Anambra State, for attending the event.
The ex-federal lawmaker, Eze, now the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) senatorial candidate for Orlu Zone, and Okolie described HPICC as a symbol of faith, worship and righteousness, praising its late founder for bringing light and dignity to the area.
