The Mbube nation in Ogoja Local Government Area, kinsmen of Cross River Deputy Governor, Peter Odey, held a thanksgiving and solidarity rally to formally endorse President Bola Tinubu, Governor Bassey Edet Otu and Odey for a second term ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The event, organised by Liluom ê Mbe at St. Columbus Primary School, Idum Mbube, brought together traditional leaders, political stakeholders, youth and women groups from across Mbube communities.
Chairman of the Central Committee, CP Gabriel Achong (retd), said the rally was convened to celebrate and formally endorse the trio for their “impactful and people-oriented governance” and visible development projects across the state and in Mbube.
A key foacus was commendation for Odey, for his role in supporting the governor and strengthening ties between the government and Mbube communities.
President General of Liluom ê Mbe, Prof. Tony Eyang, described Odey’s emergence as Deputy Governor in 2023 as a historic milestone for the area.
He also thanked Governor Otu for his visit to Mbube shortly after taking office and for the ongoing rehabilitation of the Mbube-Ogoja Road, as well as the inclusion of Mbube indigenes in key state positions.
Prof. Eyang listed outstanding needs, including curbing illegal logging, reconnecting Mbube to the national grid, rehabilitating public schools, starting the Mbube East-Utugwang-Obudu Road and establishing a polytechnic.
Responding on behalf of the President, Governor and Deputy Governor, Dr. Peter Ojie praised Mbube for its solidarity and said the Otu administration had given the area a priority under its “People First” agenda.
He urged continued support for President Tinubu, citing steps taken to stabilise the economy, tackle insecurity and advance infrastructure nationwide.
