Akwa state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) has assured Nigerians that if the party will return to power in 2027 , it would reproduce Akwa development model across Nigeria.
The party sympathises with Nigerians over the prevailing economic condition and gives hope that Nigeria will be better with the party on the saddle.
Speaking in Uyo Akwa Ibom state capital on Wednesday, the State Publicity Secretary of PDP Hon Borono Bassey said democracy dividends brought to Akwa Ibom state by PDP in the past 25 years since inception of the present democratic dispensation will replicated in Nigeria if the takes over power in 2027.
“The PDP first celebrate first celebrates with Nigerians and of course for us in Akwa Ibom state, we celebrate celebrate with Akwa Ibom people in the anniversary because we have seen the dividends that democracy has brought to Nigerians though there are some challenges.
Bassey said that despite the challenges of democracy, the party will optimize and straighten it.
He observed that at the national level, leadership seems to be very gloomy judging from where the PDP left power in 2015.
Bassey noted that there are calls by Nigerians that PDP should return to power at the centre so that good old days of economic prosperity should return to the people.
” We absolutely acknowledged these calls ,then we promise that with support of Nigerians, PDP will return to the centre in 2027 and Nigerians will cause to smile again.
Bassey, while reflecting on the quality of Ministers in Tinubu’s cabinet said PDP paraded an array of intellectuals who were able to proffer solutions in every sector of Nigeria economy.
” Look at the array of Ministers that we paraded when members of our party held away as President .
“We were sure the people were intelligent , knowledgeable of all sectors of the economy.
” They made sure that they steady our economy on the part of collective prosperity and progress.
He therefore charges Nigerians to continue to gear up and remain patient as PDP will return in a short while to give leadership that they deserve.
“Our message from Akwa Ibom to Nigerians is if they are desirous of seeing what even better leadership can do, like what is happening in Akwa Ibom state since the return of democracy, then when PDP returns at the centre Nigerians will have cause to smile.
He regretted that the APC-led federal government trying to make sure that other political parties were not given a plane-level field to operate.
“We join our voices with other eminent Nigerians to kick against it and we hope that the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and of course the rule of law shall be the guiding spirit of all our leaders, especially in the present helm of affairs,” he said.
